Belvoir Rental Index shows stability in build up to General Election

As the General Election looms and the political future of the nation looks uncertain, landlords can be comforted by ongoing stability in monthly rental figures.

The rental monthly index, produced by Belvoir, one of the UK’s largest independent specialist lettings agencies, shows that average rents across the country have continued to average £680 per month.

“Belvoir has 143 offices nationwide and the average rents for March 2010 were once again unchanged. I think that this confirms the resilience of the rental market to the ongoing recession,” says Belvoir CEO Mike Goddard.

“I consider this evidence of rental stability to be a good sign, as it confirms that the slight drops we saw last year have now finished and we are entering a more stable period. Even though the country may be facing a degree of political uncertainty at present, Belvoir offices across the country are reporting stability within the rental market.

“I predict that the current ongoing tenant demand for rental properties will maintain this stability and we could soon begin to see evidence of rents nudging upwards.”
