Don't DIY at Home without your iPhone!

So far the Designs on Property website has over 310 articles about property related matters, more than 1,000 great property companies to work with, links to all the main property associations and over 300 frequently asked questions. Very rarely though has Kate ever raved about a new product, but credit where credit is due, the DIY store B&Q has just built a brilliant iPhone application, useful for any DIYers or people who might need to carry out property renovations at any point.

This fantastic renovation application has been created by B&Q to make it easier to get DIY jobs done – and it really does. This application has been extremely well thought through and includes ‘How to Guides’ which are then linked to creating a list of products that you need which you can take into a B&Q store. The app helps with jobs from how to use basic tools and equipment through to fixing a burst pipe (make sure your iPhone is in a water tight place though!) and replacing electrical switches. It even shows you how to erect or fix a fence.

This DIY iPhone app also includes how to find a store (this is very handy if you travel a lot as it’s usually easy to park and they have good loo facilities, some even have a cafe!). Better still, you can get their latest offers, a DIY glossary and a fab note pad, essential for marking down all your room sizes and crucial property information so you never have to double on trips to the store again!

The only ‘gimmicky’ bit is the ability to pass on your DIY knowledge to friends through Facebook and Twitter. I’m not sure I’d want to do this, most of my friends aren’t quite the nutcase I am when it comes to getting excited about DIY jobs. Mind you, I wouldn’t mind hooking up with the lovely Matt James, the only person who I’ve ever bothered to watch gardening tips from!
