Focus on Nottingham - Wow and oooh of properties featured!
Here’s Kate’s BBC Radio Nottingham pick of the bargains for March 2011 and the most wonderful properties you can rent or buy in Nottinghamshire!
To borrow £1,000,000 would cost you about £4,000 per month interest only or £6,000 on a repayment and you would need around £250,000 deposit, so all in all, not bad value!
Cheap as chips, small but bijou etc, but at £235 per month for your very own ‘pad’ what can you expect? If you really need a place of your own, you can rent it. Includes parking, but no washing machine!
Real potential if you are ‘angling’ for a deal!! Newark’s latest property to come onto the market is the ‘Newark Angling Centre’. The latest government initiative is suggesting that turning empty shops into residential homes will be made much easier, here’s a perfect place to do it! Possibly a very good deal – similar two bed properties on the same street sold for £70-£85k just before Xmas!
This property is a beauty! The dining room has space for a table and chairs to seat 20 people, with plenty of room for servants to look after you. The decor is spectacular and one room is adorned with 12 stags' heads, so clearly a winner for game lovers!
According to Knight Frank, the sellers, this is “one of Nottinghamshire's finest houses” It is a Grade II* Listed and comes with 47.2 acres of grounds. These grounds include “lawns, parkland, lakes and outbuildings”. One of the outbuildings they refer to is a “4 bedroom Dower House” another is a “3 bedroom cottage” and the third ‘outbuilding’ is a “2 Bedroom grooms flat” no doubt which goes well with the stables!
There is “ample space for guests and great flexibility for a large family” then the property description suddenly mentions that there are two further two bedroom house keepers' flats! So now we are actually up to six properties (sorry I mean outbuildings), a bargain at just over £3mn. Best get in quick though or you’ll have to pay 5% instead of 4% stamp duty if not sold prior to April!
Of course, the property has the ‘usual’ “swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym, squash court, extensive cellars stores, and a miniature shooting range”.
The property is closest to Scofton Village and Ranby, with Worksop three miles away and you can easily get to Retford, which is ‘spitting’ distance from Kings Cross these days!
The big downside, apart from the price tag and cost of upkeep? Well take a look at the Energy Performance Certificate, these ratings score properties from A (the best) to G (the worst). In other words, if you have a ‘G’ rated property, basically you spend most of your money heating up the atmosphere as opposed to the property. And, yes you’ve guessed it, this property has a ‘G’ Rating – what a great bargaining chip to get that £3 million price tag down!
Oh, how the other half live! However, truth be known I’d probably get quite lost in a house this size, end up renting it out and living in one of the cottages!
