Moving House Tips - Moving with Pets

Pets may be fabulous company, but they need special consideration when you are moving. Here are some simple pet moving house tips:-

Viewers or estate agents may not be animal lovers so:-

  • Find out whether they are, or if they’re allergic.
  • Clean up all dog mess, including hairs
  • Mask pet smells
  • Move pets out if possible, to the car, out for a walk or kennels if required

Consider their needs when the moving day arrives:-

  • Dogs and cats can get quite stressed.  Send them to kennels or to a familiar person for a few days.
  • Leave small pets in a quiet place.

When the move is over:-

  • Show them rooms they are allowed in, and their new bed
  • Get back into your old daily routine as soon as possible
  • Walk them on a lead until familiar with the area
  • Make sure the garden is secure
  • Change the details on identity tags
  • If not micro-chipped, get this carried out as soon as possible.
