New Interior Design Trends for 2010!
In January we spent a couple of days at The Interiors Show in Birmingham. This annual trade show is where all the major manufacturers in the furnishing, lighting and soft furnishings industry show case their new ranges. There were lots of new ideas and themes coming through for the coming year - so if you want to know what's new, read on....
Metropolitan - imagery from New York, Paris and London was evident in lots of artwork including large canvas prints, metal signage and glass work.
Britannia - the Union Jack and British symbols are featuring heavily on everything from sofas, cushions and footstools to artwork and fabrics.
Industrial chic - many furniture manufacturers are introducing lots of pieces which combine wood and burnished metal, the final look is quite utilitarian but with an elegant touch.
Texture - look out for lots of textures in fabrics - wide corduroy, velvets, and interesting weaves are all making an appearance.
Storage - in response to trend towards open plan living, there were lots of clever dual-purpose pieces of furniture, and also discreet hideaways for study areas and the dreaded audio visual equipment!
