You would be suprised how easy it can be to transform a bad bathroom into a beautiful one on a low budget. However, if you have a perfectly good cast iron bath and sink, you can do a good job in a day, just by using special products to re-enamel your bath, or buy some bargain basement fittings and fit them yourself.

Old baths renovate extremely well. All you need to do is find the specialist products you need to re-enamel them. It doesn’t take long and is as easy as painting a wall. However, you won’t be able to use the bathroom for a day or two, so make sure you have an alternative you can use. You also can’t re-enamel a toilet, so you may need to replace it with a new one.

Another way to quickly and cheaply cheer up a bath or sink is to get new drains and taps. You can buy these on-line or from local retailers and there are usually sales on that you can take advantage of, or you can look for some second hand bargains. Second hand taps are usually being sold because they haven’t been used, so don’t think that there are second best!

If your bathroom has lots of horrible coloured tiles, then find a good primer (ideally a waterproof one) and paint with specialist tile/bathroom paint over the top. You do need to do this carefully otherwise it will look like you’ve just painted over!

Check over your flooring, is it soggy laminate or carpet? If so, absolutely get rid and opt for vinyl. It doesn’t matter what you want your flooring to look like, they will have vinyl that will look like it, from wooden floors to tiled and patterned. Whatever you do, don’t buy cheap laminate, it won’t last the year and isn’t waterproof, so it won't be of much use!

Finally, one of the best ways to cheer up your bathroom is to paint the walls and buy a new shower curtain, a few fluffy towels and a bath mat. Then add a few candles, a back scrub, relaxing bubble bath and some chilled music and enjoy your new budget bathroom!
