When you Move House do you need a Removal Company or Can you Do it Yourself?
When your life is being turned upside down, it's easy to rush into how to move your belongings, before you take time to really work out the best way to do so.
Typically, buyers and sellers make three classic mistakes when moving. The first is assuming packing everything yourself protects your belongings more than a removal company will, the second thinking you only have a few things to move and hiring a van will do and finally, that you can pack and move all your belongings in one day without any external help!
It's true that moving yourself might be possible if you are moving to and from a house rather than a flat several stairs up, you don't have a lot of heavy furniture or appliances and no large collections of CDs, clothes and other items that can easily add up. Strong friends that can help you are great, as long as they know how to get awkward shaped furniture downstairs and pack a van where your belongings are safe when going around corners!
However, packing up your items, taking them out to a van and loading that carefully takes time. It's not a morning's work for anyone, more like days. On the day you move, you will also have other things to do, people calling round, meters to read, and cleaning. Trying to do everything yourself could make your moving day very stressful - for you and the people moving in!
