Unlike the buying/selling market, the rental market had an amazing year until September 2008. In property as one market falls another grows and if people don't buy they still need a roof over their heads, so they chose to either stay with parents/friends or rent. Please find below rental performance by region from Belvoir Lettings, which has over 145 offices across the UK. The Belvoir index shows rents rising 8% per annum by the end of June 2008 and rents falling by 4% per annum by the end of October 2008 due to increased supply of properties to rent from frustrated sellers.
