1. Make sure you know what you need to do and WHEN!
2. How much can you afford? Review your finances first and secure a Mortgage Agreement in principle so you know how much you can afford to spend.
3. Do write a ‘needs and wants’ list so you visit properties that are right for you.

5. When viewing a property, check that hot water comes through quickly, the doors shut and close properly. If there is a garage does your car fit?
6. Always visit properties at different times of the day and regularly test journeys you will make.
7. Check you can afford all the outgoing costs of owning a home, from heating and telecoms bills to the rates bill.
8. Make an offer based on sold property price research – not asking prices of other properties.
9. Contacte a local solicitor on our legal section and discuss with them your prospective purchase.  They will provide you with a conveyancing quote for the purchase of your new home. 
10. Ensure that you track your property purchase carefully and have money ready at the right time.
